Several years ago when Left in Preston began we had so many creative ideas flowing for our website that we didn’t know where to begin! What we did realise pretty much straight away was that it was a necessity to bring Preston’s creativity to the masses. And so began our well known #LeftinPreston theme.
An idea we have had from day one is start a monthly feature similar to the Humans of New York website. Sadly, due to the demands of life, it never became a reality – until now.
We were scouring Instagram this week and spotted the multi-talented photographer, Joesph Gudgeon* using the hashtag #PortraitsofPreston. He has a phenomenal ability to capture the true elements of humanity in his pictures. Please take a look at his Instagram profile where the Portraits of Preston hashtag was born.
The hashtag ignited our idea once again.
So, starting from next month, we will be starting a new theme, Portraits in Preston, which will run along side our continuous Left in Preston feature. We are asking you to submit your close ups of individuals who reside in Preston. Please ensure that you have permission from the person within the photograph before sending it to us. Please do not send in work with a watermark – we will provide sufficient links to your website or social media.
For the Portraits in Preston submissions there is no need to leave your photography work in a random place – just send these as a jpeg attachment only within an email. LeftinPreston@me.com
The best one will feature on our website.
Here is the very first Portraits in Preston photograph taken by our very own Kirsty Higginson:
*It is also worth noting that Joseph will have a photography exhibition at The Harris Museum from the 13th October to the 25th November which celebrates Preston’s former indoor market. For more information please click here.
